Message:

Thank you for your work during the 2026 legislative session to protect funding for higher education and support Washington students pursuing education and training beyond high school. In a challenging budget year, your leadership helped ensure that critical investments in higher education and financial aid were preserved. By maintaining support for students and institutions and returning the Workforce Education Investment Account to its intended purpose, you protected opportunities for Washingtonians seeking to earn the credentials our state’s economy demands. These decisions matter. Washington employers continue to create jobs that require education and training beyond high school, including degrees, apprenticeships, and industry-aligned certificates. Ensuring that students can access affordable pathways to these credentials is essential to our state’s future workforce and economic strength. At the same time, we recognize that challenges remain. Last legislative session’s cuts to higher education programs and supports, including the Washington College Grant, created barriers for many students. There is still work ahead to ensure every Washington student can access and complete a post-high school credential. We look forward to continuing to work together to strengthen Washington’s higher education system and expand opportunities for students across our state. Thank you for your continued leadership and commitment to Washington students.
